State records highest count of positive cases @ 588, 2 deaths

Health Department on Monday recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases so far pushing the total confirmed cases beyond the 18,000-mark. 588 new Covid cases were recorded in the daily bulletin released by the Health Department on the first day of reopening of the State’s borders for unrestricted movement.

With this, the total number of active cases in Goa stand at 3,962. Out of these, 256 are under home isolation. A total of 18,006 cases have been confirmed of whom 13,850 have recovered. 

Two more Covid-related deaths have also been reported taking the death toll to 194. The deceased persons include a 70 year-old man from Pernem, who was admitted at Goa Medical College and Hospital and a 70 year-old man from Gogol in Margao, who was admitted at ESI Covid Hospital. Both patients had been admitted with co-morbid conditions. 

Urban Health Center, Margao continues to have 433 Covid cases within its jurisdiction, which is the highest among all health centres. This is followed closely by Primary Health Center at Ponda with 300 cases, UHC at Vasco with 253 cases and Community Health Center at Sakhali with 203 cases.
