The newly appointed Goa Lokayukta, retired Justice Sandeep Shinde, will be sworn in on Wednesday, March 4.

“The Directorate of Vigilance has informed that the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Goa Lokayukta, Justice Shri Sandeep Kashinath Shinde, will be held at Lok Bhavan, Dona Paula, on March 4, 2026, at 5.00 p.m.,” the government said.

Justice Shinde earlier served at the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court.

The Lokayukta post had remained vacant since December 2024 after the term of Justice (retd) Ambadas Joshi ended. As a result, hearings in more than 20 pending corruption cases were stalled.

Born in Chiplun and originally from Mumbai, Justice Shinde retired on January 16, 2023, after serving six years as a High Court judge.

Before becoming a judge in 2017, he served as Chief Public Prosecutor representing Mumbai in 2015.
