Goa’s economy will witness growth of 10.33 per cent during the current financial year 2023-24 and that the double digit growth is expected due to commissioning of the Manohar International Airport that will meet the increasing travel demand, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the Western Zonal Council on Monday.

In his address, Sawant also said that Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for auction of five more mineral blocks would be issued shortly and the State is expected to generate revenue of around Rs 1000 crore through mineral block e-auction exercise.

The 26th Western Zonal Council meeting under the chairmanship of Home Minister Amit Shah was held at Gandhinagar.

Sawant said that the State economy has not suffered a major setback from the COVID pandemic due to the smart initiatives of the Government and hence the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for the year 2023-24 is projected at Rs 100002.25 crore at current prices with a robust growth rate of 10.33 per cent as compared to the year 2022-23 and a Per Capita Income of Rs 6.32 lakh.

“The double digit growth rate is expected due to the commissioning of the Manohar International Airport at Mopa which will enhance global connectivity through new routes to meet the increasing travel demand to Goa,” he said.
