Stop acting oversmart: State NCP chief to Cong

VASCO
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State President Jose Philip D’Souza on Tuesday afternoon said an alliance and a united opposition was vital to change the political scenario in the State.

While congratulating the BJP for its victory in the ZP polls, D’Souza hit out at Congress and said the grand old party would face further embarrassment and be finished if they continue to display “an over-smart attitude”.

D’Souza was speaking to reporters after a training camp organised by WWF India at Kharewaddo Jetty.

“Winnability is more important than placing a large number of candidates just for the sake of it. We are happy with a 25 per cent victory after one person was elected from one of our four candidates.”

“The entire Goa was agitating against the government on various issues like linear projects, electricity bills and Covid-19, but BJP won big in the ZP elections and I congratulate them for the victory.”

“Unity among the opposition and a political alliance of like-minded parties is the only way to change the present political scenario.”

“Congress has diminished from Goan politics and if they want a good future, they must take steps for an alliance and unity. But if the Congress continues to display their overs-mart and over-confident attitude, they will face further embarrassment and will be totally finished,” said D’Souza.

The NCP state president said the Congress had placed so many candidates at the ZP polls without carrying out a study on their winnability factor.

“The results have been disastrous for the Congress and they will face further embarrassment in the future if they don’t change now. It is time the Congress does an introspection, talk less and work more,” he said.
