MARGAO
Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Friday warned Goa Forward Party chief and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai that he should put his foot down and stop any government move to challenge the High Court judgement on the NGT issue if he loves Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn.
He also said the time has come to uproot the government led by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for pursuing anti-people's policies and programmes, saying the Chief Minister's defiance of the High Court judgement shows the gross abuse of power.
"Is Parrikar really the Chief Minister of Goa? Because, he sure doesn't act as one," Reginaldo said, while addressing the media, as he expressed his shock over the audacity of the Chief Minister to challenge the HC judgement in the Supreme Court. "This only goes to show and confirm our thoughts on government's ulterior motives," he added.
Demanding that the Chief Minister enlighten the people of Goa his plan of going to the Supreme Court, Reginaldo said he along with the people of Goa will fight till the very end to save and protect the State.
"Even a child will tell you that Pune is closer to Goa than Delhi is. Thus we can see clear ulterior motives awaiting to be achieved once such a move is accomplished by the government of Goa. However, our Goans will stand no nonsense and hence petitioned to the High Court to which even the HC realised the need of NGT and requested that a circuit bench be set up in Goa itself rather than Pune or Delhi,"
he said.
When the media drew his attention to the statement made by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar that the government is in favour of setting up a circuit bench in Goa itself, Reginaldo shot back "What stops the government from setting up the circuit bench in the State. But, the Chief Minister is only fooling the people of Goa by making such statements just to confuse the people on the issue," he added.
