Addiction to mobile phones and mobile games can lead to bizarre consequences and in a shocking incident which has stunned Belagavi region, a youth beheaded his father who had stopped him from playing mobile games.
A policeman who retired recently was brutally killed by his own son for taking away the mobile in order to stop him from addiction to the mobile phone.
According to Kakati police, Shankar Kumbhar (60), who had recently retired from service, was killed by his own son Raghuveer (25) at around 5 am on Monday morning at Kakati village, about 8 kms from Belagavi.
Raghuveer, an engineering diploma student, was allegedly addicted to mobile phones and wasted his time playing
the infamous PUBG games.
Shankar was upset as Raghuveer had failed thrice in his engineering examinations, only due to his addiction to the mobile phone. Raghuveer was also reportedly pestering his father for a new mobile handset.
Wary of his addiction to mobile phones, the deceased policeman had taken away the mobile on Sunday night in order to prevent him from playing the game.
According to police, the youth first locked up his mother in a room in the early hours of Monday and then strangulated his father to death.
He was so blind with anger that he beheaded his father and also cut his leg and threw them apart and showed it to his mother.
Soon after getting information of the murder, Kakati CPI Srishail Kaujalgi and a police team rushed to the spot and arrested the youth, after which he was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. A case is registered at Kakati police station.
