Addressing a press conference in the presence of SGWTA President Vijai Sardesai and secretary Dilip Prabhudesdai, treasurer Sandip Azrencar revealed that the trust receives a monthly grant of Rs 40,000 plus reimbursement of actual fuel bills from the MMC whereas the actual monthly operation cost of dog shelter, animal birth control and treatment of injured dogs is around Rs 70,000.
Terming the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, Azrencar said that the sole purpose of the complainant is to stay in media gaze and spoil the image of the trustees and donors.
He further disclosed that SGWTA President and MLA Vijai Sardesai, Fatorda has donated around Rs 1.50 lakh to SGWTA over a period of 15 months. Saying the NGO is prepared for any probe, Azrencar pointed out that more funding is required to increase the cage capacity so as to take care of animals and security of people. TGN
