Elaborate arrangements have been worked out to celebrate the famous Gadetsav at Sal for three nights from March 29 to March 31.
A meeting was convened at the Deputy Collector's office in Bicholim which was chaired by Deputy Collector Deepak Waingankar and attended by police officials, representatives from the Sal Devasthan Samiti and Gade Mandal.
The Gade festival, which begins on Monday, attracts a large number of devotees, but restrictions have been imposed this year on account of the pandemic and every person attending the Gade festival will be expected to wear a face mask, while local shopkeepers will also have masks for sale at cheaper rates.
The main road will be closed for traffic near the Sateri temple at Dhumase from 10 pm to 5 am for vehicles coming through Dhumase for three nights of the festival.
Police Traffic Cell Inspector Sudesh Velip said all vehicles coming from Kasarpal and Dodamarg should park their vehicles on the ground at the Government High School and vehicles coming through Dhumase should park in the open space near Bhumika Mandir.
A special police post will be set up to monitor law and order. Fire tenders and power department personnel will also be available at the site.
“The government, Devasthan Samiti, Gademandal and Bicholim police have appealed to devotees and others present at the festival to strictly adhere to SOPs and Covid-related protocols,” Devidhan Mandal President Kalidas Raut told reporters at Sal.
