The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Vishnu Naik: For the last 30 years Siolim has not witnessed any development. People are still asking for basic needs like water, electricity and good roads. People should vote for me for development and to halt the trend of defection indulged by politicians.
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the assembly?
VN: I will strive to strengthen the Lokayukta Act in the State. There is no action initiated against corrupt ministers or executive officers. Action is taken only on the common man. People who are elected to frame laws are breaking the law. We need a strong Lokayukta which can take action against corrupt legislators and the executive.
TG: Which is that one leader outside your party that you admire as a politician and why?
VN: I admire Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was a principled leader and who took everyone together.
TG: Who would be your CM choice, should your party come into power?
VN: We have already declared our CM candidate as Amit Palekar
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of the people? Explain.
VN: It is against the people’s mandate. A candidate who has been elected on one party should remain in that party or else he should resign and then join the other party.
TG: Do you feel the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win.
VN: None of the parties will get a clear mandate. AAP will emerge as the single largest party followed by BJP and Congress.
