A youth from GVM’s Higher Secondary School was allegedly ragged during a higher secondary festival ‘Yuva Rang’ which was held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir in Ponda on November 27.
NSUI, the students wing of Congress, has taken up cudgels on behalf of the student and has written to several authorities in the country including the National Anti-Ragging Helpline, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the National Human Rights Commision of India and others, bringing the incident to their attention.
In the NSUI’s letter, president Ahraz Mulla alleged that the said student was ragged in front of more than 700 students. He was allegedly asked whether he watches porn, even though he is under 18 years of age. He was further asked about pornstars in front of the entire crowd and humilated for not answering the question about porn, Mulla has stated.
“He was further asked to also remove his t-shirt in front of the crowd and was thus humilated with personal questions disturbing the mind of the said student and mentally disturbing the student who is under 18,” Mulla said.
Mulla has also attached a link to a video concerning the incident and has asked authorities to take action on the organisers of the festival.
