PORVORIM

A Std 12 student has been booked on charges of assaulting the principal of V M Parulekar higher secondary school at Verem.

Speaking to The Goan, VM Parulekar Higher Secondary School Principal Prashant Naik said the student of Std 12 (Arts) was irregular in attending classes.

“He did not even attend special classes conducted by teachers to prepare the students for the forthcoming Goa Board exams. I had asked the student to call his guardians to the school.”

“Instead, the student came with an unknown person. I refused to speak to that unknown person and asked the student to come with his mother or his uncle, as his father had expired,” said Naik.

Naik said the student then got annoyed and hurled a chair at him, causing injuries to his left hand.

“Later, the student kicked me in front of the other students outside my office,” Naik added.

Acting on directions from the school management, the principal filed a complaint at the Porvorim Police station against the student.

Porvorim Police has booked offences against the student under Sections 323, 353 and 504 of IPC.

Porvorim Police Inspector Paresh Naik said the police has issued notice to the student under Section 41 of CrPC to report to the police station for enquiry.

“Necessary action will be taken against the student on completion of the inquiry,” said Naik.
