Eye witnesses informed that the truck was proceeding from Savoiverem towards Ponda, while the deceased, Yash Shirodkar (16) and his friend Madan Gawade (16) were travelling in the oncoming direction.
Gawade was flung off the motorcycle, while Shirodkar came under the wheels of the truck. The truck driver fled from the incident spot. Ponda police rushed to the site and conducted the panchnama. Ponda police is further investigating the case.
This is a second such accident in just two days.
It may be noted that in a similar accident, a 20-year-old youth from Sawantwada-Mandrem died after he was crushed by a truck at Deulwada-Mandrem on Wednesday.
Trouble also broke out at the accident site after locals got furious over a delay in the arrival of an ambulance.
