MARGAO
A group of SSC and higher secondary students held another round of protest on the footpath of Margao Municipal garden on Sunday, demanding either cancellation or postponement of the Board examinations.
Armed with placards with appeal to the government to think about the safety of the students, the students said the government should either cancel or postpone the Board examinations. “COVID cases in the state are increasing by the day. The state has witnessed daily spike in cases, which has come as a strain on the available health infrastructure”, a student pointed.
“Tomorrow, we too may be affected. The government should take a call on either cancelling or postponing the examination,” said another student.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Digambar Kamat said the government must listen to the voice of students and postpone the SSC and HSSC examinations. He said the confusion created by the Government with its decision to hold offline exams of SSC and HSSC is a result of the failure of the Goa Government to prepare academic action plan even after one year of breakdown of Covid pandemic.
“I had time and again urged the government to make use of intranet optic fibre cable network to streamline online education. Unfortunately, the Government did not pay attention to our suggestion which has now compelled Government to ask students to appear physically for the examinations risking their health,” he added.
