Call it a prank or a scene out of a motive, an abandoned mini suitcase in the bushes filled with bones gave some anxious moments for the police and citizens at the Rumdamol Housing Board on Thursday morning.
While the citizens of the area initially suspected foul play, the police later clarified that the bones stacked in the suitcase were that of a dog.
In fact, Maina Curtorim PI Pravinkumar Vast told The Goan that the forensic team from Verna and officials of the Veterinary Hospital confirmed that the bones found inside the suitcase were that of a dog.
It could not be confirmed whether someone has played a prank or that the suitcase was abandoned at the site with a motive, as PI Vast suspected there was some dispute over the place.
“It appears that someone has deliberately abandoned the suitcase with the highly decomposed dog carcass. The carcass was wrapped in jute sack before they were stacked into the suit case,” he added.
Police said the forensic team from Verna was requisitioned at the site to rule out foul play. Veterinary doctors also confirmed that the bones found inside the suitcase were that of a dog.
