MARGAO
As land grab accused Suleman Siddiqui Khan landed in the police dragnet in Kerala, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has asserted that the accused will not escape from Goa police custody again.
In fact, the Chief Minister gave an assurance to the peope of Goa that thieves and land looters will not go unpunished. “Bhivpachi Garaz na”, the Chief Minister thundered as he said that land looters will have to face punishment as per the law. When asked whether the police will have a separate jail for the accused, the Chief Minister shot back “Suleman will never escape again from custody”.
Breaking the news of Suleman’s arrest in Kerala on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Margao western bypass on Monday noon, the Chief Minister directed his tirade on the political parties for trying to make political capital out of the escape.
Apparently relieved after Suleman’s arrest in Kerala, the Chief Minister recalled that he had appealed to the people to have faith on the police as well as the government, promising to get Suleiman back in custody. “There were people who carried Suleman’s photographs as if he was their relative or likely to join their political parties. They apparently realised the capacity of the Goa police. My government had registered cases against the accused. We were determined to track him down anywhere in Goa before the accused was nabbed from Kerala”, he said.
Interestingly, the Chief Minister said Suleman landed in the police dragnet two days ago and he is being brought to Goa after completing the legal formalities with the Kerala police. “Those who have spoken against my government, the people will now know who was with Suleman. They had carried his photographs as it he was a big man. Today, a video of Suleman has gone viral, showing how he was misused by the political parties. In short, people of Goa need not worry about Suleman and such looters”, he added.
