Speaking to The Goan, ML Sahu, Director at the Indian Meteorological Department, Met Centre, Panaji said though most areas of the state received rainfall on Monday, and the condition would return to normal by Wednesday and Thursday when dry weather would set in.
Increase in the humid and moisture content in the atmosphere is what led to the summer showers. “This would be classified under the summer rainfall and not pre-monsoon showers. The rains were caused by the moisture content in the South Westerly winds coming from the Arabian Sea. Due to the moisture incursion there was a local weather development, thus causing the rains,” he said.
Rainfall recorded at Sanguem was 1.8cm, 1.3 cm at Margao and 1cm at Quepem
