Giving thumbs up to the Goa Village @ Sunburn festival at Vagator, Anjuna, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday said that for the first time Sunburn has created a ‘Goa Village’ at the mega musical event which will give a platform for Goan artists to perform to international and domestic tourists.

Khaunte also urged the tourists who will attend the musical fiesta to show responsibility and restraint while enjoying the four day event in the State.

“For the first time Sunburn has created a ‘Goa Village’ at the musical event. This ‘Goan Village’ was a long standing dream of the government to present the vast and vibrant heritage, art and culture of Goa to a global audience. Goa has a vast repertoire of local talent who need the right exposure, and the right dedicated stage will create that opportunity alongside celebrated global artists,” Khaunte said.

The Tourism Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Goa Village @ Sunburn at the Vagator hill which will host for the next three days the Sunburn, an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival where popular international DJs are expected to perform.

Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, CEO Sunburn, Karan Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Percept, Harindra Singh, Marketing Head of Croma and Raj Gopal Iyer were also present at the function.

Continuing, Khaunte said the idea was to come up with a Goan festival and therefore the three day Sunburn festival gave way to a four day event with the Goan festival making a headstart.

“It’s a big start for Sunburn this time. Today and the next three days are going to be good fun for many people,” he said.

He further said that his only request to tourists who come to listen and enjoy the Sunburn was to be responsible and ensure that they remain safe and also keep Goa safe.

“I look forward to four days of good music, good talent, good DJs coming in and all the best to people who are participating,” Khaunte said.
