A number of people have been visiting the residence of nine-year-old Sanskruti Kamble at Tuem-Pernem, following her hopsitalization due to a rare 'Goodpasture Syndrome', the first of its kind recorded in the State.
Sanskruti's father Sudhakar is hopeful that Sanskruti can resume classes when she is not undergoing treatment for her kidneys.
A visit to Sanskruti's residence revealed a number of people dropping by their house and offering all kinds of support to the family.
“I was unable to work for three months due to Sanskruti's treatment, but I cannot miss my work any further as it is a question of our survival. We have decided to admit Sanskruti at the district hospital in Mapusa for dialysis. She will be undergoing dialysis every third day at the District Hospital and the cost will be borne through the DDSSY scheme,” said Sudhakar.
“I want to see Sanskruti lead a normal life like other girls and I don't want to make her aware of her disease. I want her to attend her classes for at least three hours a day and the Don Bosco school in Tuem is also keen that Sanskruti resumes her studies,” said Sudhakar.
Ever since The Goan highlighted the story of Sanskruti, who has been stricken by the extremely rare disease, many people have been in contact with the family and the media to offer their support and aid.
On Tuesday, Tuem Sarpanch Nilesh Kandolkar visited Sanskruti's home and handed her family cash of Rs 15,000. He also assured that the Tuem panchayat would provide all possible help.
In a bid to seek financial assistance for Sanskruti's further treatment, Sudhakar has written to the Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane and Deputy Speaker Micheal Lobo to intervene in the matter.
Sudhakar thanked doctors from GMC hospital, Bambolim, Healthway Hospital, Old Goa, child care organisations and newspapers for their support.
“I pray to God that no one should suffer from such a disease, but I hope the government provides treatment for this disease in government hospitals. Also government should made a provision to pay the entire Rs 4 lakh from the DDSSY scheme,” said Sudhakar.
