The impression of Goa as an acclaimed tourist destination is quickly flushed down the drain, as soon as one visits the toilet block outside the arrival terminal at Dabolim airport.rnThe commodes are clogged with toilet paper, while the urinals are full with urine.

To make matters worse, there is no water in the toilet and this has made it difficult for the users to flush out the waste.
Speaking to The Goan, a group of tourist taxi operators said the toilets had not been cleaned by the house keeping personnel since the last several days and this had caused considerable inconvenience to tourists and visitors at
the airport.
“I have seen foreigners rushing out of the toilets warning others not to use the toilets as they are dirty. One foreigner woman
even commented that one would never have come across such an ugly scene in their home country,” said a taxi operator,
Alex Gama.
A domestic tourist, who came out without using the toilet, told the Goan that Goa is known for its scenic beauty and friendly people. “But when tourists first land outside the airport and witness such a mess, it sends a wrong signal and a bad impression about Goa.”
When contacted, Airport Director B C H Negi initially refused to believe the poorly maintained toilets outside the arrival terminal, claiming that the house keeping personnel clean the toilet on a daily basis.
When requested to personally inspect the toilet and ascertain the matter, Negi said he would direct his staff to inspect the toilet premises.
“We cannot allow such negligence to take place if toilets are found dirty. I will pull up the house keeping personnel and get it cleaned immediately,” said Negi.
“We cannot spoil the image of Goa due to someone’s negligence, as Goa is an international tourist destination,” added Negi.
Negi assured to direct one of his airport staff to constantly keep a check on cleanliness of toilets outside the airport terminal and surrounding areas.
