South Western Railway (SWR) has earned a total revenue of Rs 7,771 crore from all sources in this current financial year, breaking the previous record of Rs 6,133 crore for the last fiscal year 2021-22.For the first time, SWR has achieved a milestone of originating passenger revenue of Rs 2,686 crore till March 2022, which is Rs 562 crore (11.10%) higher than the previous best of Rs 2,124 crore (registered in 2019-20).
“In 2021-22, SWR earned Rs 4,189 crore in freight revenue and now, we have recorded Rs 4,514 crore in this financial year up to March 22, 2023, which is 7.75 % higher. Also, sundry revenue of Rs 306 crore was registered against Rs 168 crore during 2021-22,” SWR General Manager Sanjeev Kishore said.
He has expressed gratitude to customers of railways and has congratulated officers and staff involved in the record-breaking business.
