TAG announces Young Achievers Awards 2024

The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) announced the names of the recipients of Young Achievers’ Awards for the year 2024 and the awardees for this year are Holly Rodrigues, Jennifer Fernando and Tracy Dias. The awards are being given to those who have earned recognition for their exceptional performances and dedication for the growth of tiatr, stated Anthony Barbosa, president of TAG in the presence of Suresh Divkar, member secretary of TAG along with, Succoro Fernandes, Antonio Rodrigues, Amrose Fernandes and Jokim Dias.

TAG will be celebrating the birth centenary of late Regina Fernandes, popularly known as the First Lady of the Tiatr Stage, on November 16 at the black box of Ravindra Bhavan Margao at 3.30 pm. Noted theatre personality Ester Noronha from Mangaluru will be the chief guest along with senior Goan tiatrist Sharon Mazarello, stated TAG president.

TAG, a government body established to promote, preserve and enhance the art of tiatr in Goa plays a crucial role in nurturing and recognising young talents. It also organises workshops, ensuring the growth of Konkani tiatr and boosting budding talent through initiatives like Young Achievers Awards, stated Anthony Barbosa, adding “Parents should encourage their children to step ahead in attending workshops to learn the nuance of make-up art, stage setting and direction. There is no dearth of young talent in Goa and that is seen from the number of tiatr staged during the interschool, inter college and children’s tiatr competitions.”

The awardees


Holly Rodrigues, known as the Rockstar of Konkani stage is a trained musician from Pilar Music School, Margao and has performed in numerous tiatr competitions by Kala Academy and TAG as well as commercial tiatrs directed by prominent tiatrists. Starting very young, when he was only five, Holly excelled in singing, acting and playing the guitar. He has won several awards at state-level singing contests, and is two-time recipient of the Kantaram Scholarship.


Jennifer Fernando has quickly risen to prominence as an actress and singer in Konkani tiatr and film, since her debut in 2018. Her first performance was a tiatr directed by Mario Menezes. She has acted in three Konkani films, one of which is being selected for screening at the upcoming IFFI 2024. She has worked with reputed artists like Menino de Bandar, Franky Gonsalves and Costantino Crasto.


Tracy Xaverina Dias, also known as Tracy De Calangute is a rising star in Konkani tiatr scene and has impressed the audience with her acting and singing skills. After her debut in 2016, she has been singing toast songs and acting in dramas. An accomplished director, she has helmed the tiatr ‘Fulanchea Sangatak Kanttei Apnnayat’. She has participated in tiatr competitions and won several awards. Tracy has worked with noted tiatrists like Joaquim Dias, Fr Doel Dias and Amar Sawant, Conception de Tuem, Seby de Divar, Jose de Benaulim, Franky Gonsalves, Milagres de Chandor, Comedian Agostinho etc.
