Tiatr Academy of Goa awarded Laneesa Melanie Mascarenhas with the Josephine Dias Puroskar for her contributions to tiatr, including its songs and music. The award included a citation, a memento, and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
The award ceremony also featured the release of the ‘Directory of Tiatr Artists 2024’, the ‘Report of the Activities’, and the prize distribution for the 15th Konkani Kantaram Singing Competition. This event took place on August 4 at 3:30 pm in the Multipurpose Hall of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Patto Panaji.
Antonio Fernandes, former MLA of Santa Cruz, was the Chief Guest, while Menino Fernandes (Menino de Bandar), former President of the Tiatr Academy of Goa, was the Guest of Honour. Senior tiatr artist Josephine Dias was also present. Laneesa expressed her gratitude to the Tiatr Academy of Goa for honouring her with the Josephine Dias Puroskar 2024. She also thanked all the directors who had given her the chance to act and sing in their tiatrs.
She entertained the audience by performing a song.
