Marcaim MLA, Sudin Dhavlikar on Thursday said periodic rise in fuel prices has hurt the common man very badly and requested the government to take some measures to arrest the rising trend in order to bring the inflation under control.
He said people find it difficult to manage homes due to increase in petrol, diesel and gas prices and urged the government to look into the issue seriously.
“When the actual price of petrol is Rs 35 why are we being charged Rs 100 and why is the price of gas going up by Rs 20 to 30 every time? The rise in petrol and diesel prices has snowballing effect on other goods which leads to inflation. How will people manage their homes,” he asked, while raising the issue of fuel price rise during the Zero Hour in the ongoing Assembly session.
“Is it possible for the government to do something? Common men have been affected the most due to the rise in fuel price,” he said.
He also questioned why petrol, diesel and gas were not brought under the ambit of VAT.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said he has “noted” the member’s concern on the issue.
