2 held for rape of Assam girl in Quepem

In yet another shocking rape case, two persons have been arrested by Quepem police on charges of raping a teenaged girl from Assam since July 26.

According to reports, the victim girl was allegedly brought to Goa by one accused Shamnath Singh (32), a native of Delhi but presently residing at Pirla-Quepem, on the pretext of giving her a job in the State.

Immediately on her arrival in the State, Singh is alleged to have raped the girl on July 26.

Sources informed that two days later, Sudhakar Naik (63), who allegedly owns a shop in Curchorem, is also alleged to have raped the girl on July 28.

Acting on a police complaint, Quepem Police arrested both the accused and they were produced before the JMFC at Quepem and later remanded to five days in police custody.

Quepem police is conducting further investigation in the case.
