The government will soon conduct taluka-wise mapping of vital water sources such as springs, lakes and wells located in the state with tagging of the location of these bodies on Google maps.
After the exercise of mapping updation with the QR codes these water bodies can be located from the Google maps. The government is also in the process of reformulating the water policy which was earlier drafted in 2000 as many new concepts needed to be considered while formulating the new policy.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the government is in the process of revisiting this water policy adding that various environmental aspects and new water conservation concepts would be taken into consideration while reframing the policy.
Sawant said that water policy will be soon formulated and implemented. Government also has plans to increase the capacity of dams by disilting them.
