Tanker falls on side at Loliem
CANACONA: A tanker carrying HP gas fell on its side at Maxem-Loliem in Canacona on Monday afternoon and a minor gas leakage caused panic in the area.
According to Canacona Fire Services, the incident took place when a HP gas tankar (MH-46-H-6196), proceeding towards Margao, fell on its side at Maxem-Loliem at about 1 pm on Monday.
The possibility that the highly inflammable gas from the ill-fated tanker could burst into flames caused alarm in the area.
A fire brigade rushed to the spot and partly succeeded in controlling the minor gas leakage by using foam.
The fire fighters stood at the site on standby till Monday evening to prevent any further leakage and to await the arrival of experts to plug the gas leakage.
