Transport Dept on Thursday extended the deadline for fitment of speed governors in four-wheeler passenger transport vehicles till July 31.
Accordingly, such vehicles will be exempted from the mandatory requirement of fitment of speed governors up to July 31 this year or till two to three manufacturers of such ‘governors’ are available at reasonable rates for fitment.
The extension in deadline comes as a temporary relief to the taxi operators, who resorted to a three-day strike.
The notification issued exempts four-wheeler transport vehicles used for carriage of passengers and their luggage.
