TCP Board, building conservation panel reconstituted

The Goa Town and Country Planning Board and the Conservation Committee under the Development and building construction law were reconstituted and both will be headed by Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane.

Apart from Rane, the TCP Board will also comprise two MLAs, who will be known after the Goa Legislative Assembly holds an election to nominate them to the Board.

The Chief Town Planner (Planning) Rajesh Naik, is the member-secretary of the TCP Board as well as the Conservation Committee.

The TCP Board is packed with bureaucrats, including the Secretaries for TCP, Urban Development, Panchayats, Planning and Industries, the principal chief engineer of PWD, the chief conservator of forests and heads of the departments of Agriculture, tourism, health, transport, fisheries and planning.

Representatives of the South Western Railways and the Union ministries of Defence, tourism and transport are also named on the TCP Board. Also nominated on the Board are Panaji based Paresh Gaitonde, Rajiv Sukhtankar, a Quepem-based architect and a nominee of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).  

The Conservation Committee includes the Chief Secretary, the TCP Secretary, PWD Chief Architect, the Superintending Archaeologist of ASI, Goa Circle, director of State archives and nominees of the Goa chapters of the Indian Institute of Architects, Indian Institute of Engineers, Institute of Town Planners India, CREDAI, architect Bryan Soares and Clyde D'Souza.
