Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) or the 'Hare Krishna' movement had yet another biography released at the Kumaon Literary Festival authored by Hindol Sengupta.
At the release of the biography 'Sing, Dance and Pray', Sengupta said, Prabhupada represents a unique interaction between the East and West, even as he drew a parallel of sorts between him and Swami Vivekananda.
"The fact that an elderly Indian who had never travelled abroad, visits America at the age of 70 and managed to build a global movement, was nothing short of a miracle," Sengupta said speaking at the Lit Fest.
He said, Prabhupada went to live among hippies in the US and managed to convert a whole bunch into this global movement.
"It's an incredible story," Sengupta said, adding that within a decade of his visit to the US, Prabhupada went on to build 100 temples and 100 centres across the globe, which came to be known as ISKCON movement.
"There are many resonances in his interaction with the West as somebody representing the East. He went and taught the West that the entire idea of the Divine is in the very form of Krishna," Sengupta said.
