While police investigations in the death of the teenaged Nachinola girl made no headway so far, people continued to put pressure on the administration with Pilerne-Marra youth and villagers on Tuesday organizing a candle light march demanding justice to the girl.
At least a dozen of the people were called and questioned in the case in the last two days by the Calangute police.
Investigations in the case picked up pace after the father of the deceased teenager handed over her mobile phone to the police on Sunday.
After tracking call records and messages on the mobile phone, police managed to call people to the police station for inquiry but have so far failed to step on any crucial information.
Police sources informed that they could access very few CCTV footage as at most places CCTV cameras were not functioning.
With the family of the deceased girl questioning the motive of the cops while investigating the case, the police have now decided to keep the family in the loop in the investigation.
“Every bit of information that comes up during the investigation is relayed to the family,” a top police official informed.
The body of a 19-year-old girl was found in mysterious circumstances on the Calangute beach last week, a day after she was reported missing by her family.
According to police, the girl died of drowning the as the autopsy report ruled out sexual assault or violence.
Meanwhile, people braved the rains and took part in candle-light march demanding justice for the deceased teenager at Pilerne-Marra.
Despite a steady drizzle, the young and the old marched with candles in hand from Pilerne-Marra panchayat to the St John de Baptist church, Pilerne on Tuesday evening.
Fr Derrick Fernandes Parish Priest of St John de Baptist church, Pilerne and a villager, Juliet Damania and Congress leader Yatish Naik spoke on the occasion.
