Kidnapped on March 2, a 12-year-old boy from Colvale on March 2 was traced by Colvale police today.
The teen has been sent to State-run Apna Ghar in Merces with the police registering an offence under the BNS Act and the Goa Children’s Act against unknown person/s.
A press statement issued by Superintendent of Police (North) Akshat Kaushal stated that Chhotu Swansi, a 34-year-old resident of Koniwado, Colvale, filed a complaint on Wednesday alleging that at around 6 pm, his son was kidnapped from near their home by unknown person/s. The boy was taken from his guardianship, and his whereabouts were initially unknown.
A case was registered and a special police team launched a manhunt for the victim.
"Information from local sources and other leads helped trace the boy. He is now safe and has been placed in the care of Apna Ghar, Merces," the SP said.
