In two fire incidents reported in Bardez early Saturday morning, a new high premium car was reduced to ashes at Verem and a house was partially burnt at Arpora causing a loss of Rs 29 lakh.
In one incident, a ‘MG Golster’ make car which was parked by the side caught fire and was reduced to ashes before the arrival of the fire brigade.
The Telangana registered car belonged to a tourist.
The incident was reported at around 3.20 am near the Reis Magos Fort in Verem.
Pilerne Fire Station personnel rushed to the spot as soon as they got a call but the car was completely gutted in the fire before the arrival of the fire personnel on the spot.
The cause of the fire was not known. The estimated loss is around Rs 25 lakh.
In the second incident, a house caught fire near the Hanuman Mandir at Sankvaddi, Arpora at around 5.20 am.
Mapusa Fire Station rushed to the site and doused the fire and saved property of Rs 8 lakh.
The owner of the house, Indumita Divkar, suffered a loss of around Rs 4 lakh.
According to the fire personnel, the cause of the fire was due to a short circuit in the electric board.
