MARGAO

In a bid to end the Sonsodo jinx, the Margao Municipal Council roped in religious priests to seek the blessings of the almighty before the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWCM) started the remediation work at the legacy dump.

While a temple priest invoked Lord Damodar, the city’s presiding deity to ensure the success of project, a priest from the Holy Spirit Church, recited prayers and blessed the project.

Margao Municipal Chairperson Pooja Naik, Chief Officer Ajit Panchawadkar, MMC Councilors and officials of the Goa Waste Management Corporation and representatives of the company all joined in the prayers to ensure the project’s success.

The MMC made the arrangements for the religious Priests as per the instructions of Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai to end the Jinx at Sonsodo.

Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo, in particular, was categorical in saying that Sonsodo is jinxed as was evident by the fire that engulfed the legacy dump by a freak accident when surveyors were carrying out the survey work.
