PANAJI: State BJP President Vinay Tendulkar hit back at his predecessor and former Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar accusing him of using foul language against several senior party leaders including National President Amit Shah, that involved his mother.
“He has abused my president’s mother in his abuses. He abused me too. He has verbally abused our national president. Can a (ex) Goa CM behave like that?” Vinay Tendulkar said when asked whether there were any efforts to mend the relationship with the former Chief Minister who is fuming after his rival Dayanand Sopte who contested the elections against him was welcomed into the BJP without his (Parsekar’s) consent.
“Has he left anything to say which needs to be discussed? I am not angry. We are boys who have not studied much. He is highly educated. A (state) president who abuses one’s mother, if I say it here, it will flip on me,” Tendulkar said.
“He used bad words against Manohar Parrikar, State president, National president and said record it,” Tendulkar said adding that all reports of Parsekar’s outbursts would be sent to the high command.
Parsekar has been very vocal against Tendulkar and was the loudest among the BJP core committee members at the meeting earlier last week with his voice being heard outside the locked door.
“The president (Vinay Tendulkar) has shamelessly announced that there are two more Congress MLAs in the waiting. It is a matter of shame. I cannot tolerate it,” Parsekar had earlier said.
“He should have resigned if he cannot tell the national president (Amit Shah) that he has taken a wrong decision (to bring in Sopte),” Parsekar said.
At a meeting in his constituency earlier this week, Parsekar lambasted the state leadership and claimed that he had called Tendulkar and had specifically asked him to convey his sentiments to the party president Amit Shah. Parsekar had also claimed that Tendulkar said that he was outside Amit Shah’s door when he called and he would be sure to convey his sentiments to the party’s national president.
Tendulkar however claimed that the feud would have no damage to the party instead: “We will win with the support of our party workers with huge majority.”
Earlier Parsekar hinted that underhand dealing were the cause of Sopte quitting the Congress to join the BJP.
“What kind of bag changed hands? Pothi bag, plastic bag, cotton bag, gunny bag, and who gave it? Was it given at the top or did Vishwajit give it? I don't think it came from the top, it was done here only,” Parsekar had said earlier.
