Rajya Sabha MP from Goa, Vinay Tendulkar, will see his tenure as the state unit chief of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) end in a month or two. Tendulkar served as the party president for two consecutive terms since 2013.
“My term will be over soon. I will have to vacate the post of BJP State unit president in one or two months,” said Tendulkar.
As per BJP’s constitution, the term of the State unit chief is of three years and a leader is prohibited from serving more than two consecutive terms.
“I will not be able to contest for the post of BJP State unit president again as no one can hold the post for three consecutive times,” said the Rajya Sabha MP.
Tendulkar’s first term as State unit chief began in 2013 and he was re-elected to the post in January 2016. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2017. Tendulkar said after finishing his tenure as BJP’s state unit chief, he will get more time to serve as an MP in Delhi.
