A storm erupted in the BJP following a report in The Goan that nearly 85 per cent of candidates ‘selected’ for regular LDC posts in the GMC hospital hail from Poriem and Valpoi constituencies, with three legislators on Saturday seeking clarification from the GMC dean.
Three legislators from Tiswadi “ Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate, St Andre MLA Francis Silveira and St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes “ met GMC Dean Shivanand Bandekar on Saturday morning and questioned him if jobs were being given to people from select
constituencies.
Though the GMC dean refused to officially reply in the matter, it is learnt that he informed the three MLAs that the final list was not yet out. The three MLAs from the ruling party were livid over the process of job recruitments.
“The GMC does not belong to Valpoi constituency. It belongs to the entire Goa. You cannot arbitrarily give jobs in select constituencies. There are so many youths struggling to get employment and we are totally against employment going to one constituency,” said Monserrate, while speaking to media persons at the GMC after meeting the dean.
“GMC is not a private limited company of Valpoi constituency. We will see that the list gets cancelled. This is an injustice to the MLAs,” added Monserrate.
“We are colleagues of the same party but we are not going to tolerate this nonsense,” said a fuming Monserrate, who was supported by Silveira and Fernandes.
Added Fernandes: “Youth from our constituencies were also demanding jobs. What we will answer them?”
