Two persons who came on a bike at Ponda on Monday snatched gold jewellery from a couple and in another incident attempted to cheat a woman at Borim.
Near the St Mary Church, they stopped a couple coming on a bike and asked them to remove the gold ornaments and hand it over to them as there are some robbers moving around in Ponda.
Believing them, the couple removed their gold ornaments and handed them over to the two persons, who fled after getting the gold.
At Borim, the two persons stopped a woman who was walking on the road and asked her to remove the gold jewellery and hand them over to them. She, however, managed to escape and the thieves then went towards Ponda.
According to sources, police investigations have been hampered as the CCTV cameras installed through public funds in Ponda town are out of order.
As a result, police have to depend on private CCTV cameras installed outside shops and establishments.
