Claiming that the BJP-led government was indulging in vindictive politics, Opposition Leader Michael Lobo said that the TCP Minister was personally targeting him.
Lobo, on Thursday, also said that he was not shying away from raising questions on issues but would like to give some time to the new government to settle down.
“He (TCP Minister) is personally targeting me which is not right in politics. It is nothing but vindictive politics. I have explained to the CM but he is quiet about it. It is natural to target those in the opposition. It’s part of politics,” Lobo said, while responding to queries of journos at the sidelines of a function in Calangute.
He said the minister was welcome to review the ODPs but wondered how many times will a government of the day evaluate such decisions taken collectively.
“He is free to do whatever he wants with regards to the ODPs of Calangute, Arpora-Nagao and Parra. He is a minister. But how many times are we going to look at this. Last time (NGPDA) chairman was (Francis) Silveira and minister was someone else. Both have lost. Are you going to haunt them? And how many people are you going to haunt?” Lobo queried.
He further said that it was not the minister alone who took the decisions but a committee appointed by the planning authority.
“The committee has a chief town planner, town planners, deputy town planners who are involved to do planning. And it was done by the same government. They are free to do whatever they want,” he said.
According to the Opposition Leader, there was no question of remaining silent on issues of public importance and those concerning the State.
“It’s a new government. We (Congress) decided to give them one/two months to perform. We are taking up issues one at a time. We have to take issues concerning our constituencies and Goa at large. We cannot shy away from that,” he said.
