In a shocking incident reported from Madel Tivim, the Colvale Police have apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a civil engineer.

The arrested suspects, identified as Balveer Singh Gurjar (33), Raj Kumar Choudhary (33), both hailing from Rajasthan, and Virender Sumar (59), originally from Delhi, were residing in Tivim at the time of the crime.

According to police, the abduction occurred on Sunday evening, with the victim, Hitesh Babulalji Jangid, originally from Rajasthan but residing in Maddel Tivim, providing crucial details leading to the registration of a case at the Colvale Police Station the following Monday morning.

Investigations revealed that Balveer Singh and Raj Kumar, engaged in the tile fitting business, employed Virender Sumar.

The victim, Hitesh Jangid, a civil engineer by profession, had crossed paths with the accused due to their shared regional background.

Allegedly, the victim owed money to the perpetrators, prompting them to confront him.

Subsequently, they coerced him into their vehicle, assaulting him while demanding repayment.

The perpetrators then transported the victim to an undisclosed location, where they subjected him to further physical violence. They also threatened to kill him.

Failing to produce the owed sum, the accused forcibly took possession of the victim’s gold ring, Rs 5,000 in cash and his mobile phone before abandoning him near his two-wheeler around 9.30 pm.

Following the victim’s report, the Colvale Police swiftly launched a search operation, eventually tracing the suspects to Sawantwadi.

The police successfully apprehended the trio and returned them to the police station.

The accused have been charged under sections 392 (robbery), 365 (abduction), 506 (2) (threat to kill) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code for offences related to kidnapping and robbery.

The seized vehicle has been secured as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
