Three held for assault

SALIGAO: Porvorim police arrested a man and his two sons on charges of assaulting three persons, including a minor girl.

According to reports, Reena Mandani of Ambekhand-Verem filed a complaint with Porvorim Police stating that at around 8.45 am on Monday, the accused, Mohammad Ibrahim Suleman Sheikh and his two sons, Tayub and Hakim, assaulted her mother Chandramma Mulkund, her brother Rajan Mulkund and her minor 10-year-old daughter.

Acting on the complaint, Porvorim Police went to the site and arrested the three accused.

A quarrel between the two families is over some personal matter and is believed to have led to the incident.

The accused have been arrested under Sections 324, 323, 504, 506 read with 34 of Indian Penal code and they will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class for remand on Tuesday, police said.
