The Crime Branch has arrested three persons who were involved in the sale of the illegal pistol, which was used in the commission of the cold-blooded murder of young city jeweller Swapnil Walke on September 2.
A CB team, which was drafted to investigate the procurement of the pistol by the assailants who killed Walke, has arrested the three persons from Bihar.
With the arrest of the three persons, the number of persons arrested in the murder has gone up to six.
Investigation Officer, PI C L Patil, informed that the team is expected to return to Goa early next week. “The police team has secured a transit remand of the three accused arrested for the sale of the illegal pistol to the assailants. The team along with the accused are expected to land in Goa on Monday or Tuesday,” he said.
The Crime Branch had claimed that the accused in the Swapnil Walke murder case had confessed that they had procured the illegal pistol from Bihar.
The investigating team had claimed that the assailants had tested the pistol below the Rawanfond bridge after they had disembarked at the Margao railway station.
