Kala Academy, in collaboration with the Tiatr Academy of Goa, will celebrate ‘Tiatr Day’ on Wednesday, 21 May 2025, at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji, from 4:00 p.m. onwards. The occasion will also mark the Golden Jubilee of the Tiatr Competition.
Goa’s Art & Culture Minister and Chairman of Kala Academy, Shri Govind Gaude, will attend as Chief Guest, while Shri Anthony Barbosa, President of the Tiatr Academy of Goa, will also be present.
As part of the celebration, groups that have won first prizes over the last 50 years in the Tiatr Competition will be felicitated. These include well-known names such as Plafar Dramatic Association (Colva), Candolim Sport Club, Mary Immaculate Conception Parish Association (Panaji), Anthony & His Stars (Taleigao), Kala Mogi (Candolim), Cezar Dramatic Troupe (Panaji), Lis Goa Dramatic Troupe (Merces), and several others.
In addition to the groups, 50 distinguished tiatr personalities will be honoured for their contributions to the art form. The list includes veterans like Tomazinho Cardozo, Cezer D’Mello, Michael Gracias, Fr Milagres Dias, Irene Cardozo, Sonia Fernandes, and many others.
Kala Academy has appealed to all tiatr lovers and artists to attend the event in large numbers and be part of this milestone celebration.
