“Self-reliance is synonymous with prosperity. If the farmer becomes self-reliant, he becomes the backbone of society and the nation. This, in turn, will lead to the prosperity of both the nation and its economy,” said Union Minister Shripad Naik.
He was speaking at the opening of a two-day awareness and capacity-building workshop. The workshop focuses on two major central schemes: the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar – Muft Bijli Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana.
The event was organised by the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
Also present were Stephen Fernandes, Chief Engineer of the Electricity Department; Sandeep Phaldessai, Director of Agriculture; Soham Usgaikar, Director of the New and Renewable Energy Department; GEDA Chairman Gauresh Pilgaonkar; and other dignitaries.
Participants at the workshop include farmers, bank officials, agriculture department staff, GEDA and DISCOM representatives, and vendors’ associations. Experts, scientists, and technicians from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will guide them over the two days.
