With a resolve to cover 100 percent of the population with the first dose of the Covid jab by July 30, the State government has decided to kick-start Tika Utsav 3.0 from June 13 to vaccinate people in the age group of 18-44.
The vaccination programme will be carried out in all panchayats and municipalities in the State in order to reach out to maximum people.
“People can just walk-in and get vaccinated in their panchayats or municipalities. I request every Goan not to panic but each one should approach their respective vaccination centres whenever the progamme is scheduled and take the jab,” Sawant said, in a public address to the people of the State on Friday evening.
Sawant said through the Tika Utsav 3.0, the government will engage with all panchayats and municipalities in the State to reach out to maximum people between the age group of 18-44.
“The government is aiming to give the first dose of the vaccination to 100 percent of the people in Goa by July 30 and I am confident we will be able to meet the target. But we need your cooperation. People should come out and take their jab in their respective vaccination centres. Nobody should crowd and go to other panchayats,” he said.
The government has prepared a detailed time-table of the vaccination programme even as every panchayat will be vaccinating a maximum of 250 people per day.
The chief minister said as part of the Tika Utsav 3, “all persons above 18 years of age will be eligible for walk-in vaccination without any restrictions.”
“The drive will be conducted across Goa in 164 locations at Municipality/Panchayat level, and also at 40 permanent locations of DHS,” he said.
“People should come and take their first dose in these vaccination centres. Everyone should cooperate with our doctors, para-medical nurses and para-medical staff,” he said.
He requested all panchayat members, sarpanchas and karyakartas of political parties to extend their help in making the Tika Utsav successful.
Stressing the importance of getting vaccinated, the CM informed that since the government vaccinated the medical, para-medical and frontline workers in the first phase, many of these frontline warriors could work during the second wave without fear.
He said in the second phase people above 60 years of age were vaccinated and those between the age group of 45 to 60 were vaccinated in the third phase through the Tika Utsav 1.0 and Tika Utsav 2.0 programme which got good response.
“So far, 70 percent of the people above 45 years of age in the State have taken vaccination while 30 percent are yet to take their first dose,” said Sawant and requested people to come out and take their first dose.
