Time to follow Gandhi’s ideology: Cong MLA

MARGAO
Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has said that India got freedom from the non-violence movement pioneered by Mahatma Gandhi and his sacrifice for the country will always be remembered by generations to come.

“Today, we all need to go with the Gandhian ideology to achieve our goal of protecting the identity of Goa,” Reginaldo said, while speaking at the commemoration function of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at South Goa District Congress Office.

Ex-Minister Aleixo Sequeira, GPCC General Secretary Subhash Faldessal, SGDCC President Joseph Dias, Benaulim Congress leader Royla Fernandes, former councillor Avinash Shirodkar, District Congress members Shivani Pagi, Avita Naik, Gajanan Budolkar, Florian Colaco and others were also present.

“Today the need of the hour is to spread the message of Gandhian philosophy with the young generation when some divisive forces are trying to divide the country for political motives. The Congress workers must initiate a program to inculcate the Gandhian values amongst the youth,” Sequeira said.

SGDCC President Joseph Dias said that the Congress party has always believed in the mantra of Mahatma Gandhi of “Unity in Diversity”. We will not keep a single stone unturned to preserve the legacy of Mahatma, he added.

Referring to the famous quote of Gandhiji “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”, Royla appealed to all to work for the betterment of others and protect the environment, forests and wildlife to make human life more safe and secure.

Various Congress block members and others were present for the function. New membership enrolment was also done by South Congress.
