CCP removes all unauthorised pay parking signboards

CCP removes all unauthorised pay parking signboards

PANAJI
The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on Saturday removed around 100 pay parking signboards in Panaji, which were erected without authorisation from the corporation.

The agency which has erected these signboards was using the signboards for advertising illegally.

“We have removed unauthorised signboards on Saturday,” informed Mayor Uday Madkaikar.

While explaining the reason behind the action, the Mayor said the CCP has not yet formed the signboard panel, which will float the tender to erect the signboards.

In the meantime, a private agency has erected these signboards and to make up the cost of erection the agency was advertising on the space above the signboards.

“As it was noticed that CCP was losing revenue towards advertising fees, the Corporation decided to act on the illegal signboards. Once all formalities are done, the signboards will be erected properly,” informed Mayor Madkaikar.

According to sources in the CCP, the corporation will regularise the signboards and allow the same agency to fix signboards by charging some advertising fee.

It may be recalled that the CCP had revised the pay parking rates in Panaji city which is for four-wheeler for the first hour Rs 20, while for every additional hour Rs 15.
