The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has criticised the Congress party’s decision to forge a pre-poll alliance with the Goa Forward Party (GFP), claiming that the latter had not supported the Congress when it had 17 MLAs at the 2017 elections and needed the support of three MLAs to form the government.
“This alliance is one of jumping monkeys. Goans should be wary of this ‘unholy alliance’ that is bound to betray the people of Goa once again,” said TMC leader Armando Gonsalves.
Recalling how Congress MLAs jumped into the BJP post-2017 elections, Gonsalves said the Congress and BJP leaders are hand-in-glove and therefore, cannot be trusted.
“BJP in Goa has become a Congress Janata Party as the BJP consists of most leaders from the Congress. The people of Goa who are fed up with these corrupt leaders will outrightly reject the ‘Congress Janata Party’.”
“The situation today is such that if you see BJP leaders in Goa, most of them are from the Congress, where there is no alignment of political ideals,” said Gonsalves.
“Unlike Congress, there is one person who has the determination, seriousness and courage to take on Narendra Modi and that is Mamata Banerjee. It is her conviction which is my driving force,” he added.
He also criticised the political development of ex-MLA Rohan Khaunte joining BJP while he was criticising the government and terming it as mis-governance.
"All along, Khaunte kept slamming Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his mis-governance, he kept calling him ‘Pappu’ and today, he went ahead and joined ‘Pappu’s party’? This is outright doublespeak and unbecoming of a sincere politician,” said Gonsalves.
TMC leader Pratibha Borkar said that with the indecisive Congress on one hand and BJP’s misrule on the other, the TMC is the only credible party in the State.
