TMC decries Velingkar’s claims on St Francis Xavier

VASCO:

The Trinamool Congress on Saturday condemned the recent statements by Subash Velingkar on St Francis Xavier which has given rise to a new controversy in the State.

Speaking to reporters, TMC leader and former Sancoale ZP member Mariano Rodrigues said Goans must not fall prey to such stunts and attempts made to divide Goans on basis of religion by some individuals.

"This is only an attempt to divide Hindus, Muslims and Christians in Goa by some forces, but we will not allow this to happen. As a member of TMC, we will always stand together and act secularly to fight for the unity of Goans," said Rodrigues.

"The TMC party condemns such statements as we are a secular party and we don't provoke inter-caste or inter-religious warfare, and we want to live in peace and harmony," said Rodrigues.
