TMC vows to raise Siddhi’s case in Parl

“Goa police seems to be incapable of carrying out an investigation. The Goa Police has not followed standard procedure. Everyone seems to be hand-in-glove to cover this case up. We will help the family and take this up in Delhi and make sure that justice is done to her,” said Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra.

Moitra along with her colleague Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy and former union minister Babul Supriyo along with national Vice President of TMC, Luizinho Faleiro visited the residence of late Siddhi Naik in Nachinola and spent close to one hour with her family.

According to Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy the postmortem was not done properly as only one doctor carried out the autopsy while the normal procedure is that three doctors have to be present.

“It is our contention that foul play was involved in the death of the 19-year-old girl and CM Pramod Sawant has not done a proper investigation. It has to be handed over to some other organization although it will be difficult to probe as the viscera is not preserved,” Roy opined.

Former union minister Babul Supriyo raised the demand for a CBI investigation in the case.

“Proper investigation must be done in the case. Although the viscera and the body have been done away with if there is honesty in the government then a fresh probe needs to be launched. I think a lot of things will be clear,” he said.

All three TMC leaders are expected to meet the Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Tuesday in connection with the case.

The body of the 19-year-old Siddhi Naik was found in mysterious circumstances on the Calangute beach on August 12, a day after she was reported missing by her family.

The police had said the girl died of drowning and the autopsy report ruled out sexual assault or violence.
