After the #Rosto campaign for road safety which has gained popularity over the past couple of months and even earned Cecille Rodrigues, the lady behind the campaign, accolades from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the team of volunteers led by her have launched the “Kochro Campaign” “ to clean up Goa of its littered garbage eyesores.
On January 26, a group of volunteers started cleaning up the garbage in Siridao, and today, February 16, Rodrigues has announced through social media, that volunteers will continue cleaning up Siridao for three hours, from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Rodrigues on Saturday shared a video of volunteers Sameer, Prifa (from Chandor), Kim (a fashion designer), Prakash, Shariff, Dev, Rama, and Shreya cleaning out the garbage dumped in the village with gloves, and collecting it into big black bags. Rodrigues also reminds the Panchayat, and the MLA that it is their duty to see that the village is clean.
Following the clean“up, the team left their motto behind: Clean Goa Clean.
Every Monday, Rodrigues says she will take up cleaning Paithona Ark.
Meanwhile, the #Rosto campaign volunteers have completed painting 200 speed-breakers a day ago, with the 200th speed breaker being the one just after the oldest of three Mandovi bridges, on the Porvorim side.
Rodrigues dedicated the #Kochro campaign to fashion designer, the late Wendell Rodricks.
“He’s one soul who has worked very hard for Goa, and hope (the spirit with which he worked) can stay with all of us, so that we fight for Goa for the next coming two years and we bring down the BJP government. We are here because the BJP government is not doing its job,” Rodrigues said via a social media post following the completion of the 200th speed breaker.
The #Rosto campaign had gained a lot of momentum since its inception in October.
Recently, Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco too facilitated Rodrigues to paint a few speed breakers in his Curtorim constituency just so that they would have the #Rosto stamp.
